1) is no longer interested,
2) was never interested (maybe didn't think you were serious),
3) might have thought it would be "cool" but doesn't want to put much effort into it,
4) has had email service interrupted/terminated?

As for the solution, I don't know; maybe the deadline is a good idea. I'm guessing the production has a deadline; each stage of production should also have deadlines.

Maybe I'm just blowing hot air. I spend perhaps too much time trying to understand people also. Just when I think I've got the answer right, I turn out to be wrong. :>
