there is no instant medical need or benefit to it. That the foreskin isn't retractable is normal for small boys (up to ~3 or 4 years) and no sign of phimosis.

The main pro is that circumcision reduces penile germs. I used to work on an urological unit for more than two years, and personal hygiene ... well, you don't want to know :P

Since hygiene reduces germs, too, there obviously is more than one option, hence a matter of choice (non exclusive, of course).
