Merry Christmas vs. Happy Non-Denominational... by Illiad2005-12-19 11:13:08
  He's repressing me! by chrisP 2005-12-19 12:53:01
Oh well, that had to be said :-)
Honestly, I don't expect people to read my mind and know what whishes I like. And I don't read peoples minds. So if I'm wishing someone "Merry <$event-of-choice>", it's my wish that they have, well, a merry $event. If they don't want to, I'm fine with that, after all, it's only a wish. But it won't stop me wishing it.
Applies vice-versa, of course. I've been greeted with "Happy Eid ul-Fitr" (end of ramadan) serveral times, and I liked it as it was well-meant.
