Word is terrible at large documents (I am not a stupid person-- it is my job to know which word processing/DTP product is right for the task, so please don't assume that people who don't think Word is good for big documents are just too stupid to use it). It has lots of bells and whistles and features, and the outlining would be wonderful-- if it WORKED. The problem with Word is that it doesn't handle memory correctly, and when you get to about 250 pages, it crashes regularly and fails to be usable.
