Electronic Funds Transfers -- good, bad, ugly? by Concept2005-12-19 10:49:52
  You're vulnerable in a thousand ways. A utility by bobmon 2005-12-19 11:00:33
or cable co. or such is not your biggest danger, in my view --- even assuming a corrupt employee, there are enough other electronic customers that your odds are low. A corrupt employee at your bank is a far greater danger.

I say go with it. Mailing or phoning in a payment-by-credit-card every month opens many more weak points.

One more point: The EFT payments *should* show up on your bank statements, so you have a clear record if something does go wrong, and someone specific to blame --- either the creditor collected an unauthorized payment, or the bank paid out something they shouldn't have accepted. I really think you're safer this way than with individual payments.
