| Where is my @#$%^*ing SUV? |

So late this summer I looked over my finances, the rolling wreck that my present vehicle had become and the price of gas and I decided that now was a good time to buy a new vehicle. I had a car, but it really didn't meet my needs - what I needed was a truck or a smaller suv.
I spent two or three weeks researching what was available, checking the US and Cdn gov't fuel economy websites as well as manufacturing capacities of the various car makers and customer satisfaction. After test driving my arse off, I decided to purchase a Ford Escape Hybrid.
On Aug 30 I signed and paid for a custom factory order in full with a delivery date at the end of Oct some 8 or 9 weeks hence. The order was marked RUSH by the dealership who was to notify me as soon as it rolled off the production line at the end of Sept.
By the end of Oct I was a little apprehensive. I hadn't heard anything about delivery but was willing to let another week or so slide. On Nov 13th I gave them a call and the conversation amounted to, "It rolled off the line on Nov 11th, we were just going to call you today.. you should have it in the first week of Dec. Oh, we shouldn't be telling you this but your order was set aside at the factory - twice - and that's why the long delay. US orders are taking priority."
By Dec 8th, I was well and truly upset. I'd already had to cancel my first vacation in seven years because the suv had figured prominently in my plans and it was nowhere to be had. Another call to dealership for an update yielded up a statement of "Oh.. we're not sure where it is right now, but you should have it in time for Christmas."
Yesterday, I paid them a visit and saw the shipping manifest. The delivery date is "..on or about Dec 27th which means it can be as late as mid-Jan. You're lucky. New buyers are waiting six months for their vehicle." As if that's supposed to be of some comfort to me..
So four months for an order that was supposed to take two. I find it unconscionable and I strongly resent being treated like a second class citizen simply because I am a Canadian citizen.
I am frustrated, angry, stressed out and generally p.o.'d at the way that I've been treated and I'm not hesitant to let the company president and board of directors know about it. I've had to cancel a long awaited vacation and defer it until the next earliest opportunity in late spring and that just makes my blood boil even more.
