CMOS batteries, IMHE, can cause all kinds of odd failures. And considering how relatively cheap a CMOS battery is, and generally how easy they are to replace (usually just have to slip it out and back in), I'd suggest swapping in a new one just to be sure.

Or, if you have a voltmeter, you could at least pull it out and test the voltage.
