and as for the jacket.. it was a brand new one.. but i wasn't exactly going slowly. The jacket's done it's job and paid for itself by sacrificing itself to save my skin (literally) Looking again I think it may be repairable, the hole is actually more of a tear than anything, but obviously the waterproofing can't be fixed easily.
