be sure to visit a little shop called
Tea Centre of Stockholm, located near Mariatorget on the island of Södermalm, one of the central parts of the city. It's on top of a curious little hump on Hornsgatan, run by a fascinating Sri Lankan. Very, very nice décor, and an exceptionally wide selection of the absolutely finest teas of all kinds.
We always buy our breakfast tea there, a Ceylon Orange Pekoe.
And it's not all that far, more like 45 miles or 45 minutes by train, which usually run every hour, or maybe an hour by car. Definitely worth a detour, if not a trip, as the venerable Guide Mich. used to say.
In fact, while you're in town, why not dive into the quaint Stockholms Aether & Essence Fabrik on Wallingatan, behind Folkets Hus at the end of Vasagatan. Also very distinctive, has a variety of herbs, spices and essences. Makes for nice little souvenirs (which might be a bit difficult to explain to Customs:) |
