That doesn't mean I advocate changing things to make the government more religious. I would not want my religion imposed on anyone, nor would I want anyone else's religion imposed in me.
But on the other hand, do you think it seems fair, from the perspective of the religious folk in the country, that the government gets to impose values like abortion, gay rights, and prostitution (which is legal in Nevada, of course)?
How can religious folk champion values they hold dear, like the right to life, the sanctity of marriage, or the fight against moral degradation when they don't have the same access to education or the government?

I don't think there's an easy answer to any of this. I don't want the government involved in religion and, despite what I've said, I don't think that religion should be involved in government. But as long as separation of church and state exists in government, I think we'll continue to see religious folk struggling to get their way. |
