Okay, I understand why polls are performed, and that the polls are done country-wide to get a feel for the electorate's point of view.
However.... those polls really don't mean a lot. Ignoring the disparity in seats between the different provinces, there's one big bump that messes the numbers up.
According to one of the latest polls, the Bloc Quebecois has the support of 14% of voters. Gosh, that's not too impressive. Oh wait a second! All of those voters are in one province! And, oh gosh! How many seats do the Libs have in the West right now?
I would much rather prefer the polls to be done on a regional basis, *if at all*. Seriously, I would like there to be *no* polls... then people would have to vote based on their opinions and understanding of issues and those for whom they are voting, rather than voting strategically - that method has a tendency to rise up and bite one in the arse on occasion. |
