People should watch what they bite into... by raptillicus2005-11-29 14:20:29
One of my college roommates got me good... by esbita 2005-11-29 17:46:42
I have a moderate/high tolerance for spice. One of my roomies was from a small village in Veracruz. I got my comeuppance on "hot" when I visited her family.

One of my neighbors grew his own habaņeros. This guy went to law school at the age of 60, I want to give you an idea of his evil nature here. His salsa was evil, but bearable. My grandfather would make chorizo that gave you seriously weird dreams as well as making you dread the bathroom the next day.

So when I went home with Mayra to visit her family...they casually warned me that the food would be hot and if that was okay. I said that I was fine with it and could eat whatever was placed before me. They told me to watch out for the little orange peppers, which I did. Even carefully avoiding peppers and seeds... Jesus Christ. White hot pain in my mouth. My nose was watering. But dang it, I was going to finish my dish no matter what. The family notices my normally pale face turn mottled red, and starting to eat slower.

They ask me if I'm all right. *GAAAAASP* I'm fine...

I won't even talk about the next morning.
