I've been tearing my hair out for the past month over a lack of connectivity to the internet -- boot, run Opera and/or Firefox, get "port closed" errors, hit F5 repeatedly, page finally loads. Odd thing is that email and W:ET worked wonderfully. Turned out to be a P2P program I tried called KCEasy. It locked the ports it used, and then couldn't let them go, even after shutting down the app. Uninstalled, rebooted, and now it works great.
