I didn't have very high hopes for it to begin with, not being a big fan of Doom III, but I figured, different team, different focus of gameplay, might be a more fun experience with what is inarguably a competent FPS engine.
Nope. More of the same. Dark environments, cheap tactic "scares", dissolving monsters and "teammates" with no personality beyond the ability to curse loudly.
Oh, and the "I've crash landed because my shuttle was hit by a missile and now my buddies are dead and it's just me and this here pistol" beginning isn't exactly novel. At least Halo gave you a suitably cinematic lead-in to that so you kind of cared. |
