I tend to agree with you on those observations by classic_jon 2005-11-29 09:02:35
I have spoken in front of a lage number of people (meetings, sales calls, training sessions, church) and It does tend to be the person who talks the loudest or shouts down the others who gets heard in a round table or open style discussion....even if what they have to say is pure garbage......

I was raised to "be polite and let others finish what they are saying and not talk over people" so I have a hard time doing so even when it is the right thing to do. Fortunately I have a good speaking voice and *can* talk over people by projecting and not yelling but I still don't like doing it because it means that there has been a breaksdown in respect somewhere if you are in a business discussion. I think it is the same in a personal conversation as well...if they don't have enough respect to let you finish or to at least ask if you were going to say something then either it wasn't important to the group or they have little respect for what you have to say. Only you can be the judge of that because you know the group.

Being a "faceless minion" in a crowd is easy because it is not personal but I will TOTALLY agree that the unthinking and uncaring people in a crowd are the ones that make me all kinds of paranoid/nervous. Drunks in a crowd also have an affect on me in that respect as well. Goes back to when my ex-roommate was a bartender and used to ask me to help the actual bouncers "escort" problem drunks out of the bar to wait for the police.
