In general, affordable places to live are easier to find the further from downtown Vancouver you get. ("Commercial centre" for sure, but kind of up and to the left on the map!) And because of the high price of real estate downtown, work tends to be scattered a bit everywhere. Drawing a circle around downtown, most newcomers will generally settle in Vancouver proper, Richmond, Burnaby, or New Westminster. And within a year, once they have work and a better idea of the ebb and flow of the city, make a more precise decision and move again. |
