It's easy to forget that there is always somebody who needs more of any capability/capacity. Most of my time with PCs involves simple word processing. A couple of MHz would do me fine (if it wasn't for bloated software). Similarly, most of my files are typed documents with simple line drawings - a GB is a lot of typing. Gamers, people involved in rendering or simulations and other calculation intensive applications always need more speed and memory.
