This is where prejudices come from. Most people will simply update their conceptions and carry on. Others are so reluctant to give up their familiar world view that they don't want to look past their prejudiced preconceptions. I call them losers, others call them rednecks. When they get violently vocal about it they are called hate mongers.
Many times, such as when people have an idea what kind of music you might like, it is unimportant enough that they simply carry on with an updated world view, and you never even knew they had the preconception.
