on Friday Night With Jonathan Ross: Clarkson said, "Top Gear could ONLY work on the BBC" he then recounted a story of how he took the show to an american TV exec who loved the idea but wasn't so keen on him saying that 'BMW drivers are all tossers'... as clearly the German Automotive Industrialist Advertisers might not appreciate it :) With no adverts, the BBC needs only focus on one thing. Quality broadcasting; there's no need for them to worry about viewing figures, or the holy profit margin.
