I know this has a snowballs chance in H*** of happening but....

If the vote of no confidence vote on Monday passes, the government will be dissolved. The Governor General can phone Stephan Harper and ask if the opposition could form a government but I doubt this would happen.

But, the opposition really wanted a election at the same time the Gomery report was released. If they really wanted to screw with the Liberals the three opposition parties would decide to work together until early January then call an election.
