have to pay for with TV is your cable/satellite bill. Once that's paid I should not have to spend even more just to watch TV.

There is no reason to license TV except to make the government even more money. One has to be licensed to drive a car as that takes a good bit of skill and training to do safely. It takes no training or skill to watch a TV.

In the case of Britan a TV license gives you only 8 or so channels free of ads (as said in the below thread). What if you never watch those channels? Then you pay for something you don't use. You still get commercials on all the other channels.

If ALL channels were commercial free then I could see having a TV license but not when only a few channels that you may never watch are commercial free.
