Here's your chance to beat plblark by plblark 2005-10-06 18:26:16
Into shape! What?~ oh, I see, misleading subject line, huh ... well, in a sense, you can help me beat myself into shape then. I know, I know, round IS a shape, but not one I prefer and my knees/hip/back are really complaining lately.

So, I'm going to do something. I'm going to start an exercise regime, and I need your help. references, links, information, suggestions, support, nagging, anything to help me get this weight off. I'm a pretty visual learner so images, URL's, and information I can reference repeatedly would be great!

Here's what I'm thinking: I took a ~2 mile walk home from the mall tonight and it felt invigorating. In the past, when I worked out before work I started the day feeling rwally good so I'd like to get that re-started. I figure a 40 minute walk should be invidorating and not put my morning schedule off too much.

Now, onto the part I need help with: exercises and stretches. The Muscles I NEED to work are basically my upper body with emphasis on my lower back and hands/wrists. I'd also like to work my stomache, my chest, my wrists/forearms, my shoulders, and my biceps/triceps in roughly that order.

Ok, now we know what we want to work... what do we have to work with? I have access to a curling bar, 300# of plates, and pairs of dumbells (10,15,?25,35,45), a good treadmill, and a room I can use to exercise in. I'm 6'4" tall and weigh ~285#. My BMI is currently scary and to get out of the obese category I need to get down to ~245#.

OK, now the stage is set, let's see what you can come up with:-)

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. You might see this for a couple days to give everyone a chance to help me beat myself into shape. :-)
