I knew the story to be at best apocryphal. I did intend it to be representative of both the war in the East during WW II, and the end of the use of animals as the primary source of motive power generally, and the end of the use of horse cavalry more specifically. Could we then use a photo of the Budweiser Clydsedales being loaded into a semi truck?
