Okay, things are worked out and the shopping begins today (cooking starts Saturday, into Sunday). Doing the Pavo Relleno (Mexican stuffed turkey) and Gravy, that lovely "Peasant Food" casserole that was suggested (with the Bleu Cheese), Corn Bread, SPinach Salad with Feta, bacon, and Black Olives, Asparagus with Hollandaise sauce, Broccoli Cakes, Broccoli Cheese and Rice Casserole, Pumpkin Pie with fresh whipped cream, and Blackberry Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream. Am going to do some mushrooms (really to go with the salad, but we'll see). I found this recipe, and was wondering if you folks think it would be worth the effort:
Ingredients:
- 4 pounds Mushrooms
- 1 pound Butter
- 1 bottle dry red wine
- 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon Dill seed
- 1 teaspoon Ground pepper
- 2 small Garlic cloves -- minced
- 2 cups -Water -- boiling
- 3 Beef bouillon cubes
- 3 Chicken bouillon cubes
Directions:
Combine all ingredients in large pan. Bring to a slow boil on med. heat; reduce to simmer. Cook 5-6 hrs. with pot covered. Remove lid and cook another 3-5 hrs. until liquid barely covers mushrooms. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
As I don't like mushrooms (but about everyone else coming to dinner does) I really don't know if this would be worth it. Your thoughts?
