I really more for freedom of association. by VivianC 2005-10-06 14:46:03
I feel that if you have a company and you hire your friends, you should not be punished. Having the goverment tell you that you have to hire people who don't share your views is a bit repressive.

Now I can understand the gays in the military thing. There is only one military and it is a unique opportunity to serve your country. But the Salvation Army? If they don't want you, you can go join any number of organizations or even form your own.

Now sure, there are plenty of worthy contributions that can be made to the Salvation Army by non-Christians. But this organization wants to reach out to Christians and let them contribute. They want people who share their mission for the same reasons. They want a group drawn together by the same calling. I support that.

And by strange coincidence, it is also what the law says. I guess it is news in the US today when a judge follows the law and doesn't magically discover a hidden "right to work at the Salvation Army" in the constitution but it didn't used to be that way.
