2500 years. Most things more recent than that can be dated more reliably by technological items (spearpoints, pottery types, even coins or royal inscriptions) or tree rings than by radioisotope means.

there are other radioisotopes that can be measured to give much longer time scales, such as uranium/thorium that can measure times in the billions of years.
