Checking my voicemail.... by thread_killer2005-10-06 10:14:16

I would (hope to be able to) convert that revenue stream within that time frame. I know a handful of people who have been very sucessful doing exactly what I'm being asked to do. Healthcare isn't an issue. Time off? What's that?

Okay, seriously, one of the things we discussed on the phone today is that I have a vacation (my first!) scheduled in November, and I couldn't take any position that would interfere witht that.

Less time with my family? How? 7:30-4:30 sounds good to me. Is that realistic? Probably not entirely, because yeah...six months from now I'm going to have to start lining up the next contract. Beats the hell out of the 4:00 a.m. until whenever schedule I have now.

Tax forms? I already save every damn receipt, and yes... just this year I started paying someone to do my taxes.

Do I think that it would be easy? No. But nothing worth it ever is. Risk is proportional to reward. The question is how to mitigate the risk.

As for my daughter? A slightly more traditional job just may inject a little stability into her life. Structure usually isn't a bad thing for children, if it's not overdone. So I'm not quite sure I understand where you are coming from.
