Saw an interesting defensive pistol posture on by ChuckAB2005-10-06 08:13:28
    I was taught a similar stance in explorers by classic_jon 2005-10-06 08:38:24
to keep a pistol from being taken away from you. You kept the pistol drawn and away from the attacker in a similar position. You were to keep your blocking hand centered on the center mass of the potential attacker. If they came towards you, you brought the pistol forward toward the blocking hand and cupped that blocking hand so that when your two hands met you would be able to pull the trigger and have a decent Center mass hit without "aiming" with the sights.

In the stance you are talking about was the gun brought forward towards the blocking hand or not? If not then I would think it would be very unsafe. Especially if the attacker knew any type of martial arts and knew to sidestep to the off side as in Kenpo or Kickboxings "shoot the 45 angle" step to close with someone.

My 2 cents at first blush and with my limited knowledge. I will now defer to others with more knowledge than me. :)
