re: Earlier exchange with Illiad

Guy, I'll let you in on a secret: Illiad was dead-on right when he told you love and life really aren't all that difficult -- only that we make them so. It's not a platitude. It's the straight truth.

I'll let you in on the rest of the secret, though: love and life are counter-intuitive. It really seems as if we must work very hard to make them work out in our favor. This turns out not to be the case. The real way to get love and life working for you is to let them be. That simple. Just get on with doing other things -- talk with friends, expand your horizons, carpe every single cussed diem that crosses your path as if it's the last you'll ever see. And don't worry about love, or life -- they'll take care of themselves.

The best analogy I can offer comes from backpacking: take care of the ounces, and the pounds will take care of themselves. That's how it works with life, too -- take care of every single day and just live it to the fullest; doing so automatically causes your big worries to take care of themselves.

I've got to sign off for the night. But, if you like, give me a holler on tomorrow's forum -- it may be late before I can check in, but I will be checking.

"So long, earthman; hope the lifestyle comes together for you."
