I have not attempted to do conditional text in Word. It sounds like you may need to make a macro of some kind to do this???

I have fiddled with fields, and it's one of the reasons why I loathe that particular application for doing anything other than writing a to do list.

Of course the excessively expensive FrameMaker does conditional text as easy as falling off a log.

I'd suggest the online help as a first resort - it seems to be pretty comprehensive. Then perhaps a word User forum somewhere? I'm sure there are different techniques required for mail merge type conditional text and what I consider "conditional text" (i.e. producing several different versions of the same document for different audiences/purposes by selecting different "switches")
