individuals trying to get along, then you see that the consideration you show others is the consideration they will show you. Show peace and cooperation and you will get peace and cooperation in return. Show fair dealings and you will get fair dealings in return.

Show bullying and aggression and you will get aggression back. Show coercion and a disregard for people's lives, and you will get underhanded dealings and a disregard for people's lives. It isn't exact, and it isn't proven to be true. But it would explain a lot about the current International situation the US is in. It shows why fairness and consistency are better in the long run than doing whatever is expedient.
