Vancouver is an incredibly non-dangerous place when compared to almost everywhere else. I (admittedly a big bearded guy) can walk on our worst streets at almost any time of day or night and not -expect- that I will be stabbed, robbed and left for dead. I would not do that in almost any other north american city.

Sure, you can't be completely foolish and wave around a stack of hundred-dollar bills while doing that. That's just common sense. The ability to compare danger levels and make appropriate judgements is what keeps people from insanity and agoraphobia.

Remember...just because you've been conditioned to be afraid doesn't mean there's something to be afraid of around every corner. The government and the people with an agenda, and those who have taken that agenda to heart, all will try to make you think that the boogeyman is looking for you, but in reality they are the boogeyman themselves.
