Wireless networking problem by z1root2005-10-04 12:20:05
Further info so far: by z1root2005-10-04 13:41:50
Well where to start: by peired 2005-10-04 14:42:07
After repairing the wireless network on w.s. 2 the I.P. address changed:
Before Rebooting Router:
IP Address: 169.254.XXX.XXX
Subnet Mask: 255.255.0.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1

This is a Windows Auto-config address for DHCP enabled NICs for when the DHCP server becomes unavailable. Means essentially the same thing as an IP of 0.0.0.0

Reboot and repair of the wireless router gave a valid IP? Is the wireless router acting as the DHCP server for the network? How long until the DHCP leases expire?

Does WS#2 have a second section when you scan the Available Networks list?
Is it running XP? Pro? Home? Win2k?

Should be another section there somewhere for Preferred Networks or some such. Make sure the business AP SSID is appearing there. Make sure it is the only one in this list.

Sounds like the DHCP lease is expiring off the router and WS#1 is able to refresh the connect, but WS2 is not.

Let me know and I'll see what other brain farts I can spew your way.

HTH
