get into words as quickly as possible. If you stay with letters only, this will hold back your speed. Since you think and speak in words, you should send and receive code in words. Even though you type one letter at a time, you are still thinking of the word you're typing and you let it just 'flow' out of your fingers. At least that's what I do - but I've been typing for a LONG time.... YMMV
