Internet Cafe Setup. by MikeCDN 2006-11-19 12:55:59
This is a repost from here. --- Okay everyone I need a point in the right direction.

I just found out that my local coffee shop offers internet. Though they don't advertise it, and they have a really suckey way of making it work.

They are doing a protected MAC list... and unfortunatly only tho owners (who are never there) know how to put someone on.

We are friends with the owners so I was trying to come up with a better way for it to be done. I told them I'd consider it. As this is not my area of expertise, I was wondering if anyone knew of any free soft that could be used to setup a proper system for them.

The idea that comes prevalient to my head is a cheap PC, handling the gateway, and only allowing authorised clients through. Maybe have a key that when they buy coffee they get a timecard. With 30-60 minutes of time on it. they open there browser, put in the key on the time card and voila. (or they can sell the cards straight).

Does anyone know any software out there that can do this? i'm sure there must be some. Though I have no idea where to look.

The shop is in a bit of trouble, so looking for ways to increase customers and a proper net connection would definatly help that.

Thanks all :)

---

I've tried a couple options but have been unable to find any software that works quite right. Anyone have any further ideas for me?

Hmm
