Wireless networking problem by z1root2005-10-04 12:20:05
Improve the stability of their network: by peired 2005-10-04 12:43:17
1. Eliminate Wireless router from equation
2. Run Cat5 cable from Router1 to WS2.
3. Problem solved. :P

Wireless networking, though infintely fun to play with, is still not 100% reliable. I have seen it affected by metal studs in a wall before.

Previous post regarding LOS is well put, Also I find that wireless USB style NICs do not work as well and are not as stable as PCI-based models. Try making sure the AP is placed on a higher plane than the tower in question. (On a shelf if possible) I find they tend to pick up signals better when higher. (Makes sense, provides better LOS to the NIC)

Is there any reason why they cannot run a CAT5 cable from the router to WS#2? Wired would be faster and a hell of a lot more stable. Would mean less work on your part, but much better functionality for what they intend.

Cheers
