in the best interests of the country. That doesn't make his actions right, or just, or anything. Don't forget - the road to Hell is paved with good intentions.
Of course, in measuring how good a foreign policy is, and how effectively is it implemented, you have to have certain goals in mind.
You have to have a pretty firm grip on what values you want to promote. What values you want to enhance in the world in general.
One question I can ask you is: Do you believe that the world view of the US has changed due to Bush? Do you believe it has changed in such a way as to benefit the US?
Do you believe the value of a human life is the same no matter what nationality, and no matter what location? If so, do you believe fewer lives have been lost due to the actions of Bush than might have been the case if other choices had been made?
Without establishing such basics, such a foundation for discussion, I must guess at what your values are, and how you believe your goals are best met. You no doubt do the same for me. Could we agree to try to get down to basics before assuming irrational thinking due to emotional reactions? I do it for you, you know. I have not once assumed (or posted) anything that says I believe you are irrational or emotional.
I question your values. But then, that is what our differences in opinion are all about, isn't it? |
