Seriously, have you ever thought someone looked superior because they were clucking to you about some other person's downfalls? Most adults are just as mature as yourself. No, I think there must be some other reason for delving in with blood-caked, clawed fingers and cackling over the corpse of some pecadillo or other. I can think of a time or two (particularly during the Clinton years) when I would thrash out the President's wrongdoings (as I saw them, at least) from outrage and a desire to see things change. But, as pervasive as talk about politics is, and about US politics in particular, I have to wonder what other motivations drive such otherwise sensible people to devote such time and energy to enduring the stress of a political discussion?
