Wireless networking problem by z1root2005-10-04 12:20:05
What kind of router and wireless card? by classic_jon 2005-10-04 12:34:00
also important is where the antenna on both are and if they are near anything metal that can reflect the signal. What is the signal strength of the connection when it connects? I am sure you know this but I run into it all the time, Radio is line of sight, no line of sight or too much metal...no connection. It also could be something as simple as a refrigerator turning on and generating signal noise to make it lose connectivity if there is a reception problem.

Something that a buddy of mine ran into with his PSP and his media station was that some wireless cards do not like 64 or 128 bit security on a WAP. You might try turning off encryption and assigning only that MAC address to be able to connect to the WAP and seeing if that helps the problem. It will not help you if someone runs SMACK and has your MAC address but it *will* give you some bacic security and eliminate the encryption as the error point.
