Hey, looked like you could use a litle more ammo for your arguments; I'm always happy to oblige.
Question: if all you know of me is what you read of me in my postings here on UF and in others' responses, do you feel you have some basis for judging the worth of my words?
Admittedly, there is quite a bit of sniping being leveled at GW and his administration here on UF. Seven years ago, there was quite a bit of sniping leveled at Clinton and his cronies. I suspect if Illiad had been entertaining us back in the '80's, G.H.Bush would have been in the crosshairs, too. Amusingly, it's not just the US politicians who get their time in the shame-light around here; I've seen gripes about Tony Blair, Paul Martin, and others, as well.
One striking difference I see on UF compared to most other sites which indulge in a bit of political sniping is that, on UF, a politician's actions are more often the subject of criticism than hir views -- UFies seem to be empiricists, at heart. I don't think anyone around here could be convinced to invest the necessary energy into deducing and criticizing GW's motives or beliefs. Unless he cares to post them, himself, most of us will freely admit our ignorance of such matters and let it go at that. However, it is not terribly difficult to see what his actions are -- newspapers around the states and around the globe present us with a veritable feast of information in that regard, seasoned with all sorts of biases. You are free to choose whatever flavor you find most palatable. But kindly do not make the mistake of assuming that, because others perfer stauncher fare, they are tending seething cauldrons of hatred far a man whom you may admire -- UFies just aren't that shallow.
Oh, and, FWIW: I may not know Mr. Bush personally, but I have worked for the man; in my estimation, he is very much motivated by the "value" of a dollar, and little else. Leastwise, there was little else he cared to discuss or consider as a reason for taking action in his business dealings. That doesn't make him a bad man -- actually, it makes him a very good businessman -- but it also makes him seem a bit cold and heartless, at times. I'm not sure I'd want the man as a friend. |
