          Latest stable 1.x. by LionsPhil 2005-10-04 10:00:53
Since 1.0 was such. Tried both built-from-source (which takes about two days straight on moderate hardware, and should indicate quite clearly just how much of a fat bastidge of a product it is) and the prebuilt binaries. Platforms include Windows 98SE (no, I'm not griping about the stability on *that* OS, because *98SE* can't stay up a weekend without randomly falling onto sharp objects), Windows XP, and Linux (under which it has fallen over without touching on several occasions -- the weekend one being on a machine with a two month uptime when I finally had to return it to be lobotomized (sniff)).

Contrary to popular belief, I don't for negative opinions of things out of pure ignorance. I've *used* OO.o and, frankly, my informed opinion is that it sucks. The one thing it has going for it is that I can open frickin' Word documents that morons send to me as the content of e-mails (which, natch, contain nothing but plain, 12pt Times New Roman text) without having to have the Real Deal (which I don't hold in much higher regard).

Lotus Smartsuite has to be the only office suite I've ever used which *wasn't* a bloated mess, and even them I'm being generous.
