But OpenOffice is so bad... by shminux2005-10-04 09:43:51
What's so bad about OpenOffice? by hadji2005-10-04 09:47:15
*flamed* and no pun in sight.. by shminux 2005-10-04 10:00:03
Every time I try Open Office it fights me. Imports comma-delimited data into the word processor rather than the spreadsheet despite all my efforts, refuses to plot the data unless sorted first (sort it yourself, duh!), behaves completely counter-intuitively when editing... Even their auto-correct feature, nearly seamless in MS, rubs me the wrong way. And it's large, slow and not very stable, either. I hate Word at times, especially its formatting bugs, so I occasionally try OOffice, but give up in frustration each time.

And for "occasional letters to mom" you can use whatever free word-processing thing came with your OS (WordPad in Windows).
