If she doesn't understand, she doesn't understand. She may not be able to help you with it, but have you considered seeking help from a professional? And she might react to it better than you may think. I originally wasn't going to tell my parents that I was seeking counseling. However, the psych wanted to drug me up, I figured that would show up on the family insurance paperwork (was in college at the time), and so I figured I'd brave it and face it. It turns out Mom was going on meds for the same darn thing, at about the same darn time. She was going to keep it under wraps herself but tipped her hand when I tipped mine. |
