Wasps hate cold; in fact, enough cold will kill them. If you can get to them, you could try gassing them with a CO2 extinguisher. Personally I think that the risk is too high. Wasp venom in enough quantity can kill a human. I'd get a professional exterminator in to help, but by all means get 3 quotes and pick the best (not necessarily cheapest) one.
