I was having trouble with the menu on the side travelling all the way down the side... It's a common problem. So I cheated: The menu floats over the content div, providing that gradient on the left where the menu exists. The gradient is also defined in the content div, so that the gradient goes all the way to the bottom of the main area - if not defined, it'd stop as soon as the menu finished. Anyway, hope you find it useful.
