This should be similar to what you are looking for, except I haven't extended the menu DIV all the way down with the content DIV yet.
Feel free to scavenge layout to see if it will help.
Also, I'm wondering if your [P] tags, since they are block elements, aren't causing the problem. I'm not using [P] elements in my page.
