The left won. by krikkert 2005-09-12 15:50:46
It's rather clear this far - lots of unsecure mandates, yes, but the Prime Minister has already begun phrasing his application for an honourable discharge.

Oh, and the right is screaming their heads off about currently having more votes and yet less mandates. Get it in your heads, you voted for this system!

(Explanation below line)
----

The Norwegian system of election builds on three principles.
1) Mathematical fairness
2) District-vs-urban
3) The Executive Addition

Basically, #2 means that rural areas get a bit more votes than they should have to ensure that they're not overrun by urban representatives. #3 means that the biggest party gets a few more representatives to ensure the chance of it having a chance to create either a coalition or a majority cabinet. And since the right-wing parties are bigger in the cities; and the biggest party in Norway right now is the Labour Party - well, they don't gain.

For the last four years, the Communal Minister has been a rightwinger. Nothing changed. :)
