Every power source has its drawbacks by DevinUll 2005-09-12 14:55:19
Nuclear: Storage of waste, Fear of reactor problems(and excuse me California, you have fourty to fifty in CA right now... noo clee arr wessels in the ports, so get off it already)

Solar: Reflects heat and may in fact raise the local temp by as much as 10 degrees. Requires large area to produce enough to run the businesses California has. BIG FLAT areas that nobody else will be allowed to build on. If I remember correctly land ain't cheap in CA. Plus the routine maintainance for the types of solar systems required are larger than any other power source aside from wind. guess what else. They rely on it being sunny out(what a shocker huh).

Wind: Um... drive on I10 and you will see that drawback. There is also the noise problem. The windmills also kill birds(an enviro nut told me that one so I figgered I'd just repeat it back). They require a whole bunch of maintainance. Also require a lot of wind. It takes a whole bunch of windmills to produce usable energy.

Coal, oil, natural gas(fossil fuels): Release toxic chems into the air, use up a natural resource, good amount of maintainance, but rather cheap to run. Aside from nuclear possibly the cheapest to maintain and operate.

You name one I could tell you the disadvantages
