I live within four blocks of a train station that is capable of carrying people from here right into Manhattan.

The trestles are all built, the land has already been taken through emminent domain. 90% of the expense* of building a railway has already been taken care of.

But the station is closed, and the rails haven't been taken care of in about 1/2 a century. The line ran from Harrisburg all the way to Manhattan. People actually do commute from here to there.

Think of the economic and environmental savings by simply fixing up the trestles, laying down new track, and putting a nice shiny new train on the line.

I've been waiting for it for over 10 years. Think of the price I could get for my house if it was even easier to commute to NYC.

Some stupid group or another keeps shooting the plans down.
