There are ways you can make do, you know. And there IS free counseling out there. Calling a lawyer's office and asking them some questions about generic things you can do in your situation isn't a bad thing. Worst thing they'll say is that you need to make an appotiment, and some lawyers offer the first apptoinment free.
Look at Federal Aid - From the sounds of it, you're not far above poverty level, and if it's just your income you could qualifiy for help. You might also be able to get on WIC or Food Stamps to help ease the burden. And look at Credit Counseling for considating bills or even declaring bankrupecy. Might look to see if you can get into low-income housing, or stay at a shelter for women and children while your finaces sort out.
Please note: I've never been in your situation and I hope I never am. But if it was me, these are the things I'd look into so that I could start getting from an unhappy, unhealthy life to being able to be a happy person.
